Traditions

At Pepperhill, the watchword is “family.” Founded by Don and Barbara Stephens as Pepperhill Day School in 1964, three generations of the Stephens family have attended and worked here. Mr. Don and Ms. Barb applied the same principles to caring for their camp and preschool children as they used with their own three children and seven grandchildren. The result is a loving, safe, secure community of teachers and counselors that nurtures kids’ social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. As children experience a mix of directed and child-chosen activities, they learn to make good choices – developing a skill that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.

But most of all, Pepperhill campers have a whole lot of fun! From horseback riding to sing-a-longs, water games to arts and crafts, every child finds a niche while discovering new talents, learning new skills, and making friends for a lifetime. No phones. No electronics. Just good old-fashioned fun - and they will love it. Here’s just a glimpse of life at Pepperhill.

Values

It all comes down to family values. For nearly 60 years, families have entrusted their children to the Stephens family and the carefully-chosen Pepperhill staff. As campers grow up and reflect on well-loved memories, they send their own children to camp to learn the same time-honored values. Kindness, integrity, responsibility, confidence, compassion and love for animals, the earth, and each other - these are just a few of the values that make up the Pepperhill tradition.

Pepperhill is very special to me and my family. I was a camper and student and later became a staff member for several years. Now I get the ultimate experience: my son is a student and camper too! He loves every activity that Pepperhill has to offer and leaves each day ready to come back in the morning! The learning experience you get at Pepperhill is unlike any other. We love it and highly recommend!

When I think of Summer, I think of all my years at Pepperhill. As a former camper, counselor, and now a parent, there is no other place I want my girls to go. I know they will have fun and make lifelong friends"

We can't say enough great things about Pepperhill Preschool and summer camp! We have two daughters who have done both Camp and Preschool as well as their after school program. The staff is energetic, caring and attentive. Our kids can't wait to get there each day! Pepperhill is an incredible place for kids to learn and be loved.

What I like about Pepperhill is that you never get bored and the counselors rock!

Pepperhill has been such a blessing for our family! To know that your child is challenged, loved, seen for who they are, and held to  expectations is a gift. Our son has blossomed at Pepperhill as a person and as a student. His educational foundation and curiosity for learning have prepared him for kindergarten and beyond. We are so grateful that we are a part of the Pepperhill family!

The fun never ends at Pepperhill!
